ELECTRONICS

Rapid pace of consumption and replacement of electronic devices and gadgets by consumers causes significant increase in the amount of electrical waste. Decommissioned electrical devices contain not only potentially hazardous components but also elements interesting in terms of recycling, in particular noble metals that can be efficiently processed and recovered at larger volumes of waste.

When recycling electronic waste, the first step is the removal or extraction of dangerous parts or materials that could contaminate the next recycling process. Subsequently, various parts and materials are dismantled and sorted so that the equipment could be recovered in the most effective way. Metals that may be present are collected for re-use, melted and refined and their composition customized to the requirements of the end customer.

“Every year,

50 million tons

of electrical waste

is generated.”
