WE RECYCLE

Wood

Demand for timber is increasing year on year, putting enormous pressure on the deforestation of large areas of forests, contributing to other environmental problems such as soil erosion, greenhouse gas emissions and the extinction of many species of animals and plants. Despite this, only almost 20% of used wood is recycled, with the vast majority still ending up in landfills.

Technological improvements, in particular the increase in processing capacity as well as the automation of the removal of impurities, increase the efficiency and quality of the recycling process. Wood waste from municipal waste and companies is mainly furniture, wooden packaging, wooden pallets and also some construction waste from demolition. Such waste can be used to remanufacture building materials, new furniture or as biofuel.

"Wood makes up 10% of total waste ending up in landfills."
