At present, it is possible to recycle up to 4 – 6 times almost any type of used paper including newspapers and magazines to packaging materials. Approximately half of the total recycled paper comes from businesses and more than a third from households.
The paper recycling process is made up of several steps. The first step is a thorough separation according to paper composition and a degree of its deterioration. In the next step, larger quantities of paper are packed into blocks using pressing machines in order to make the transport to the processing site as efficient as possible. In the paper mills, the paper is shredded, mixed with water and other additives to make a pulp which is free from undesirable contaminants and impurities. Cleaned, drained and bleached fibres are then compressed by dryer rollers to remove remaining moisture. The final paper is placed on large rolls ready to be re-used into new products for customers.
